For larger projects with an online or .NET element, we usually use a managed outsourcing model. This combines UK project management with an overseas development team (in India), to give a mid-priced development option. It is particularly valued by SMEs and business unit managers who would find it hard to manage direct overseas outsourcing, but want to take advantage of the low prices and high flexibility available from working this way.

The UK project manager is a business and technical expert, and fully involved with the project. Under the managed outsourcing model, the project manager will initiate the project by working with the client to help define requirements, and create detailed functional and technical specifications. He will undertake all the day-to-day management of the development team, provide the client with regular progress updates and discussion of options and issues encountered, and will then lead on client testing and deployment.
