Regent Belt Company is based in the heart of the traditional leather-working region of Northamptonshire. They are a long-established business and were looking to upgrade their production management system.
Production Management System
Cloud Street worked with Regent Belt Company to develop a new system, which was implemented in several phases, working alongside and then replacing elements of the legacy system.
Processes supported by the system include:
- Managing manufacturing specifications, materials requirements and production operations for thousands of new and existing products
- Generating work orders, including integration with a legacy sales order system to generate work orders from the sales orders entered in the legacy system
- Creation and printing of work tickets for the shop floor, using an automated algorithm to define optimal production bundle sizes for each work ticket
- Management of production schedules for the shop floor, based on available capacity and work order volumes and complexity
- Tracking progress of work orders through the factory
Technology
The system was developed on the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database platform with a Microsoft Access 2007 user interface.
Regent Belt Company say:
We commissioned Cloud Street to create a database that could be used to record all of our designs and create a blueprint for each product we produced.
This first project was very successful, which prompted us hire Cloud Street again to build a production planning and scheduling system for us.
The second project was a lot more complex and required intricate synchronisation between our legacy MRP system and the SQL database. Cloud Street did a great job in understanding our requirements and turning them into a tool that we can really use. They took our brief beyond the original spec and provided us with suggestions that were invaluable and helped us greatly with our business logic. Both projects finished on schedule.
During the course of the projects and after, Cloud Street has always been on hand to help with queries and to iron out the bugs. They have been very quick to respond to emails and always respond to our phone calls.
